orientation

I’m feeling human enough to update my blog again!

Sunday morning, my mom and I woke up at 7 to start our roadtrip.  We were on the road by 8, to the bridge by noon, and to the hotel by 3:30.

After freshening up a little, we crossed the road to none other than the library.  (We just can’t get enough of them-sarcasm.)  It really was an awesome library.  It made ours look pathetic.  They had three floors, a cafe, computer lab, and they even alphabetize their titles by exact order!  I’m such a geek.  I try so hard to do that but it’s really hard only having half the people on board with your neatness scheme.  I’m definitely applying and crossing my fingers.  There weren’t any current positions open but the girl there said she was leaving soon.  I didn’t find the idea of working in the library yet again very appealing but I think I could make this work. 😀

We then went to a cafe and I had a half of a pesto grilled cheese tomato sandwich and a salad.  Thai-garlic dressing was superb.

Prepping for the next day, we drove around campus trying to figure out the best parking plan.  I showed her around the loop but we didn’t take our time because we were too busy trying to find a bathroom!  We walked downtown a bit and came back and had a piece of raspberry chocolate cake for dessert.  By 8pm, we decided to call it a night.

Monday was orientation!  We checked in at 8:30- she left to go on the tour while I wandered off to ask about employment.

All of the transfer students met in the auditorium.  It wasn’t until near the end that we separated into our majors to schedule for classes.  I got some classes picked out and I still have to choose a couple more.  It just feels so much more official.

We left by 3:30 and drove back.  We weren’t going to drive all the way back, and I certainly wasn’t planning to drive 700 miles in two days but it happened anyway.  Only with lots of coffee was I able to last the whole way through.  (My sleeping schedule was totally jacked the next day.)  We got home at 11pm.  I’ll admit, I did enjoy the time I had with my mom the whole trip through.  I’m really glad she came with me, it would have been awkward being by myself and I appreciated the company.

Well, that was my last time at the campus until move in day!  In all, I’ve spent about 48 hours there, not much time but quite enough to determine that it’s gonna be great.

Yesterday was my birthday!  While turning 20 is nothing spectacular, at least I can say I’m no longer a teenager!  I got basil plants 😀  Yes, I was immensely pleased and named them Lindy and Max, my rosemary plant-Bob, and my oregano-Mary.  Don’t make fun. -_-   Imma make yummy pesto outta them!

I’m off to bed, I’m still awfully tired.  I have to get up early to make up for my hours I missed on Monday so that should be jolly.  At least it’s only till 3, my Thursday won’t be totally ruined!

Au revoir, my lovelies!

Words

I’m at the cafe, so it seems only suitable that I update my blog.  🙂

I was supposed to be out with friends tonight but unfortunately, our plans never work out.  People ditch and alas, here I am on  a Friday night by myself.  Oh well, it was better than going to the movies alone.  Going to the movies alone on a Friday night is next to the worst things you can do to yourself besides walking around all day with your fly unzipped.  It’s like going to restaurants by yourself on Valentine’s Day.

Anyway, I decided to get out of my parents’ hairs since my brother’s gone.  Let them have a few hours of peace… most likely they’ll be doing the same thing if I were home anyhow- reading books.  That’s as far as my imagination is going, folks.

Apparently there is some poetry reading going on with a bunch of gothic-dressed girls doing the show?  I don’t know, I’m not in the other room.  I should have went, it might have been interesting.

Okey dokey, so car is completely cleaned and I just have to fill it up with gas.  Between gas and my phone bill, I’ve already used up most of my paycheck.  Grawr.

Oh, so it looks like I’m never going to get that volunteering position.  After all that work I did and the trouble I went through to get my recommendations, SIGH.  The lady called yesterday and she said that she had to fill the clerical position with someone else because something or other and that I’d have to do something else, like sorting clothes.  Argh.  I’m disappointed but it might work out anyway since I’d have to be driving out to Flint everyday and my dad would complain sooner or later.  Between work and everything else, it’s probably best I stick around.

This is awkward, lots of people standing around.  Typing to look busy and important, haha.

Mom and I are headed up north on Sunday, I’m super excited, even if we are only going to be in the town for only 24 hours.  Lovedelovedelove.

Actually…I think I’m gonna be social and go hear the poetry reading.

Later edit, I have to have a ticket, never minds.  And I forgot to add a title.  Le sigh.  So here I am, drinking my club soda, derping around.  It’s such a nice night!  Lovely.

I have a life again :)

Finals are over with, community college is forever over with, and summer vacation begins.

I’m pretty sure I passed all of my classes… Two grades posted, two more to go.

I cannot express how relieved I am that my two years are over with.  Soon I’ll be out of this house, out of this town, and up in the beautiful north.

Orientation is in 11 days and my birthday in 12.  Two things to look forward to. 🙂

I already celebrated and spring cleaned my closet and watched Larry Crowne (<hilarious).  I was supposed to meet with the gang tomorrow but it’s been postponed.

O’s mood has been improving slightly, I’m so glad.  I was really down for a few days and I couldn’t stand how miserable and self-defeating I felt.  I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

It’s also raining and thundering.  Perfect. ♥

I did all of my drug testing and completed my paperwork for Whaley’s so my training should begin as soon as the medical center sends my results.

Right now, I just want to have some “me” time.  No talking to friends, just a night full of music and relaxation.

I made a list of stuff I want to do over the summer:

Get a job

Fill out scholarships

Spend more time with the grandparents

Volunteer at Whaley’s

Start going through stuff in my room, decluttering and such since I have no idea what’s going to happen to my room after I leave

Get rid of my school stack on my shelf

Figure out what to do with all of the textbooks the store wouldn’t buy back and now I’m stuck with them (bonfire, anyone?)

Read the car manual (I’m tired of not knowing anything about the vehicle I drive)

Buy dorm stuff (which I can’t do until the end of July/beginning of August since I won’t get the letter telling me where I’m even living till then)

Get a haircut

Start caring about the way I look

Start shopping at thrift stores again

Take brother shopping for school clothes

Stop buying things until August

Convince dad to let me take over the cooking so I can make something healthier (fries and polish sausage are getting kind of old)

Random note:  I always hated when people said they were too busy to read during the school year, I just thought they were excuses but I haven’t read nearly as much as I have.  Partially due to interwebs herpin derpin but that’s a dumber reason.  Ah well, I can read now!
